Well, it is official. Our house - the first house we ever bought, where we started our family, where I gave birth to my daughter in the big garden tub, where both of our children had their first birthdays - is under contract to be sold NEXT MONTH.
While I was ready to move on, I had no idea we would be moving out of state and no idea a flood of memories and emotions, both good and bad (namely the perinatal mood disorders and other issues during my first pregnancy) would pour over me in such a strong way. Not only were there lots of firsts experienced in this house, but as it turns out, lots of lasts, too. Who knew that last December would be our last time hauling a Christmas tree on the back of my car and setting it up in that far right corner of the front of the house, or that last Spring would be the last time I would plant an herb garden for all my weird hippie remedies, or that Zoe's first birthday would be her last one in NC. Who knew.
There will be many more firsts to come as we journey through life, no matter which state or which house we're in, but a piece of me will always be in NC and in this house.
