Deep roots in wellness support the branches of your whole family.
Services are provided through Higher Ground Herbs and Homestead, where many plants are wild crafted and cultivated. When growing or wild harvesting isn't an option, carefully selected herbs are purchased from reputable herbal suppliers, such as Mountain Rose Herbs, to create the many teas, tinctures, salves and blends of herbs to suit the needs of clients. We feel that natural, sustainable, common-sense living is an important component to a healthy lifestyle and we practice what we preache by organically growing/raising our own vegetables, pork, beef, chicken, eggs, dairy, etc. We also raise and conserve rare breed animals such as British Guernsey goats and Kunekune heritage pigs, which were both fairly recently on the endangered species/critical watch lists. Catch a class this Fall as we open up the homestead to fellow homeschooling families to gain skills in foraging, herbal medicine making, natural animal husbandry, dairy goat milking, soap making, fermenting, cheese making, and so much more!

“To ignore the experience of people trained in the science of their day, or simply expert in the practical application of folk medicine, is both culturally bigoted and unscientific. We cannot presume that conventional modern science knows everything. Folk tradition includes many more layers of nuanced experience, including information drawn from the imagination, intuition, observation of animals, bedside experience, taste and smell, that the inherently limited boundaries of modern science cannot include. These layers of knowledge enrich, rather than deduct from scientific endeavor.” – Matthew Wood (Traditional Western Herbalist)
